Project Announcement One of the largest Erie County industrial projects in the recent years, will be the recently announced expansion at ICI Paint’s Glidden facility in Huron Township. They were approved in October 2006 for a 15-year, 100 percent tax abatement on a 177,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center. The new investment could reach $12.5 million, of which $8 million will be invested in the building itself. The tax on the new building will be abated and ICI Paints will give back 35% of the abated tax value to Huron City Schools. $50,000 a year will go to Huron City Schools and $5,000 a year will go to EHOVE Career Center for the lifetime of the agreement. The new facility will move about 24 jobs from the existing leased warehouse in Sandusky. GEM, Erie County, Huron Township, Huron City Schools and EHOVE were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition in our community. The consultant for ICI Paints, A.J. Magner told the commissioners, “This incentive was crucial to receiving corporate approval to move forward with the project.” |
